CAMPIONATI ITALIANI A SQUADRE 2008

Questo fine settimana (30 maggio - 1 giugno) ci saranno al Centro Federale di Riccione i Campionati Italiani a Squadre 2008. La mia squadra, Crazy Team di Torino, si è qualificata per l'evento. Fa un pò specie sapere che non siamo teste di serie anche se non abbiamo mai perso un incontro in tutta la fase di qualificazione, ma così è.

Il nostro numero 1 è il migliore giocatore d'Italia, Marcus Berrett, poi gioca Josè Facchini e io sono il numero 3. La nostra donna sarà Lauren Briggs, inglese numero 25 delle classifiche mondiali. Completano la squadra Alessandro Marcolini e Cristina di Sacco.

Ci sono due squadre che sulla carta sembrano fortissime, Bologna e Roma, vedremo chi presenteranno e come sarà il sorteggio per fare due calcoli finali.

SUPER SERIES FINALS 2008, TORNEO PSA DI SQUASH

Le Super Series Finals è il torneo che chiude la stagione e al quale partecipano i migliori 8 giocatori del mondo, anche se quest’anno alcuni dei qualificati non hanno potuto partecipare per colpa di infortuni: primo tra tutti il campione 2007 Ramy Ashour, poi Nick Matthew e Karim Darwish.

A Londra si è disputato il quinto grande torneo del 2008, e dopo Ramy Ashour, James Willstrop, Amr Shabana e David Palmer è stata la volta di Gregory Gaultier di alzare la coppa del primo.

JAMES WILLSTROP - GREGORY GAULTIER, VIDEO DI SQUASH

Erano settimane che non trovavo un bel video da mettere sul blog, oggi eccolo qui. Uno scambio iperbolico tra Gregory Gaultier e James Willstrop. Li ho visti giocare ai campionati europei e sembra che Willstrop stia prendendo il sopravvento sul francese, che li, nel campo centrale di Amsterdam, ha finito il match con i crampi, anzi, non lo ha finito.

La smorzata finale è incollata al vetro.

BRITISH OPEN 2008, TORNEO PSA DI SQUASH

Quarto torneo Super Series del 2008 e quarto vincitore diverso. In gennaio Ramy Ashour a New York, in marzo James Willstrop a Richmond, in maggio Amr Shabana in Kuwait, ora David Palmer vince il British Open, il torneo più prestigioso della stagione.

Il campione del mondo australiano è al quarto titolo British, meglio di lui negli ultimi 20 anni solo Jahangir e Jansher Khan.

BRITISH OPEN 2008, TORNEO WISPA DI SQUASH

La numero 1 del mondo malese, Nicol David, ha fatto tre su tre nei grandi tornei WISPA di squash del 2008. Dopo aver trionfato a New York in febbraio e in casa sua a Kuala Lumpur in marzo, la campionessa del mondo ha trionfato anche al British Open. L'unica differenza la finalista contro la quale ha giocato: mentre nei primi due tornei è sempre stata l'australiana Natalie Grinham, a Liverpool la David si è scontrata con Jenny Duncalf.

QUANTO TIRATE FORTE LA PALLINA DI SQUASH?

Quanto tirate forte la pallina di squash? Al Canary Wharf, un torneo che si disputa in Inghilterra, c'è la possibilità di scoprire quanto veloci si è in grado di colpire la pallina tramite un sensore radar.

La velocità è stata rilevata ad alcuni giocatori professionisti durante il loro incontro di torneo. Non vi dico nemmeno chi è il braccio più potente del west, perchè potreste immaginarlo da soli.

CAMPIONATI EUROPEI A SQUADRE 2008, AMSTERDAM

Il campionato europeo 2008 di squash è stato bellissimo e ricco di spunti. Sebbene il risultato finale ottenuto dalla nostra nazionale maschile non sia stato quello che ci si era aspettato, ossia una posizione all'interno delle prime 12 d'Europa, il 13° posto è un ottimo piazzamento, raggiunto in scioltezza dopo le pool di qualificazione.

KUWAIT OPEN 2008, TORNEO PSA DI SQUASH

Un paio di settimane fa in Kuwait si è disputato il terzo torneo PSA Super Series del 2008 ed è arrivato il terzo vincitore diverso. A New York Ramy Ashour aveva battuto James Willstrop, a Richmond James Willstrop si era preso la rivincita vincendo contro Gregory Gaultier, in Kuwait è ritornato alla vittoria Amr Shabana, che ha battuto 3-0 il suo connazionale Ramy Ashour.

A dire il vero Amr Shabana non aveva partecipato ai primi due tornei Super Series e quindi per lui si può dire vittoria al primo botto.

AMINOACIDI A CATENA RAMIFICATA, BCAA

Ne avevo parlato già ne “l’importanza dell’alimentazione”. Gli aminoacidi a catena ramificata (BCAA) sono degli integratori molto utili per il nostro organismo.

Se vengono presi prima di un allenamento intenso contrastano l’appannamento mentale da affaticamento.

Questo perchè i BCAA contrastano il passaggio del triptofano nel cervello. Cosa è il triptofano? Copio pari pari il testo ufficiale: “BCAA e triptofano (TRP) hanno la stessa "porta di ingresso" per raggiungere il cervello. Durante l'esercizio fisico il muscolo richiama i BCAA dal sangue e questo calo rende più agevole il passaggio del TRP nel cervello. Nel cervello il TRP viene trasformato in serotonina, un neurotrasmettitore implicato nel meccanismo dell'affaticamento; aumentando la quota di serotonina in circolo aumenta il grado di appannamento ed affaticamento di origine centrale.”

Detto in parole povere, i muscoli usano i BCAA, e quando questi calano, o finiscono, il cervello produce serotonina in quantità maggiore, il che crea appannamento.

RACCHETTE DI SQUASH PRINCE ALLO SQUASH MANIA

Le racchette di squash Prince nuove, quelle che vedremo la prossima stagione 2008/2009 sono arrivate e potranno essere provate in anteprima mercoledì sera, 7 maggio 2008, sui campi dello Squash Mania di Brescia.

Questa è una delle tante tappe che Prince ha organizzato per lanciare la sua nuova collezione.

E’ un ottima occasione per tutti gli appassionati per provare direttamente in campo i nuovi telai. Ci sarà anche io e testerò la nuova Speedport Black, che sarà molto probabilmente la racchetta che mi accompagnerà nella prossima stagione. La stessa racchetta che usa James Willstrop.

CAMPIONATI EUROPEI A SQUADRE 2008, TERZA GIORNATA

Stamattina alle 10.00 abbiamo la nostra partita decisiva contro la Finladia, se vinciamo entriamo nelle prime 12 squadre di Europa. Giocheranno Facchini, Capella, Rocca e Torricini.

Ieri abbiamo perso tutti e due gli incontri con la Germania e il Galles. Con la Germania 4 sconfitte, io e Josè abbiamo perso 3-0, Simone e Andrea Capella hanno perso al quinto. Con il Galles abbiamo perso 3-1, Josè ha battuto Alex Gough 3-1. Io e Andrea Torricini abbiamo perso in quattro game e Domenico ha perso 3-0. Anche se il nostro tabellino dice ancora 0 punti la prestazione è stata buona.
